James "J.R." Davis

Tritech Forensics Training Institute Instructor JR DavisJ.R. Davis retired as a Crime Scene Investigator from the Houston Police Department in 1995 with over twenty years experience.  He was held in high
esteem by his peers and supervisors for his thorough investigative approach to each crime scene.  His methodology in identifying, collecting, and processing evidence was highly regarded by both Investigators and Prosecutors.  Often
sought for unusual or difficult crime scenes, J.R. has worked with many outside agencies. 

After obtaining his Master Certificate and Instructors license from the State of
Texas, he began instructing In-Service classes to local law enforcement agencies and colleges.  Following retirement, he has taught extensively to over sixty law enforcement agencies and colleges across the country. 

Officer Davis is constantly researching innovative products and techniques to
share and has gained many great ideas from former students. J.R. is a strong advocate of Locard’s Exchange Principle and stresses that every crime scene has evidence.  As a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association, J.R. continues to learn and share information.

 

  

Jan JohnsonForensics Training Institute Instructor Jan Johnson

Jan Johnson is retired from the State of Florida with over forty years experience in law enforcement. After ten years with the F.B.I., Jan made the transition to crime scene analysis. She is recognized by the IAI as a Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst and worked for the FDLE in Pensacola for over twenty-two years.

As a laboratory analyst and crime scene examiner, Jan's field of experience includes detection, collection, and preservation of physical evidence, bloodstain pattern interpretation, trajectory analysis, buried body and skeletal remains recovery, clandestine laboratories, and numerous other procedures involving crime scene investigation. Due to her expertise in bloodstain pattern interpretation and crime scene reconstruction and analysis, Jan has testified in over one hundred criminal cases as an expert witness.

Before retiring in 2004, Jan spent three years with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office where she was supervisor of the Crime Scene and Latent Print units, as well as overseer of ECSO’s new crime lab, which she designed.

Jan served in the highly distinguished role of President of the IAI in 2004, and Chairman of the Board in 2005, and considers herself as having the privilege of being on the IAI’s original Crime Scene Certification Board. Jan also served as President for the Florida Division of the IAI as well as Chairman for the Board of Directors in 2008. She continues to serve on numerous committees with both the IAI and FDIAI. Jan has taught numerous courses in the areas of both Crime Scene and Blood Stain Pattern Interpretation in the United States and abroad, including South Africa, Brazil, and Bermuda.

 

Lisa Mayhew  

As a Child Death Scene Investigator/Trainer with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in North Carolina, Lisa Mayhew has provided assistance and consultation to law enforcement agencies throughout NC.  She was responsible for the development of a statewide training program on proper child death investigation techniques, enabling the agencies involved in the death of a child to work as a team.  Ms. Mayhew's publications include training manuals for early childhood professionals as well as journal articles and a book on child death investigations.  She is currently an adjunct instructor with the NC Justice Academy.   

 

Jeff "JP" Parrott

As a Senior Agent with South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, JP Parrott was responsible for investigating crimes, both new incidents and cold cases.  He is recognized as an expert in seven fields of forensic science, has considerable experience in processing evidence, and has a wide range of specialty training.  As an instructor, Mr. Parrott has taught classes in crime scene awareness, processing, examination, and investigation techniques.  He is a current member of the South Carolina International Association for Identification, where he has served as both President and Vice-President, in addition to holding other offices, and provides expert witness testimony and forensic consultation.
