Coomassie Blue Latent Print Protein Stain

Coomassie Blue is a traditional stain for the enhancement of bloody fingerprints or footwear impressions. Coomassie Blue is for use on most porous and non-porous surfaces. This procedure may be repeated until optimal contrast is achieved.

There are two different methods to use Coomassie Blue. First, a user may submerge the item into an appropriate container of the solution. Alternately, the solution could be placed into a bottle and sprayed onto the item. After the Coomassie Blue has been applied, it should be rinsed with water or our Coomassie Blue Rinse/Destain. At this point, the print should be photographed to preserve the evidence.
